Avatar's - My Review no not the Movie

During my thanks giving break had a lunch date with my husband at Avatar's in Sausalito. I have heard so much about this restaurant from friends and being a foodie I had to check it out.
It was a perfect November day in San Francisco when sun shone bright and golden gate bridge was clearly visible with no fog covering. After shopping in union square headed out to lunch at Avatar's.

First impression upon entering restaurant is warm and cozy with nice pictures of Indian tribal women. Owner greeted us warmly and offered to create a customized menu according to our liking which I absolutely loved.
With the usual fare of papads and green and red chutney we were also served thin and crispy aloo paratas with a variety of toppings like pickled carrots, green chutney and a sweet and sour pickle as an appetizer. Loved it .

Pumpkin enchilada
For main course I had Veggie enchiladas and would not have in a million years guess it was made with pumpkin, sweet and tangy served with basmati rice and a true Indi-Mex combination. Only complaint is wished it was served with some desi/indian salsa that would have added so much more depth and flavor.

Chef created a stir fry with our choice of favorite veggies and our choice of flavors like cumin and to our spice level. It was crunchy, spicy and very tasty.
And finally no lunch is complete without dessert, had a kulfi with chocolate base topped with pistachios with sauce of rose and mango puree. Was yum.
Totally enjoyed lunch and would I drive all the way to eat may be not but would definitely visit if around the area again.
